  1. Close enough to what happened with my first Android phone (Galaxy S1). Major version update (Eclaire -> Froyo I think) came with a metric TON of carrier bloatwear that reduced phone usability by 50%.

    Resulted in a few years playing in the world of custom roms which was cool.

    • I have tried to update my “dumb phone” several times – no update actually ever happened – attempts always failed.

      It’s so old now (over 10 years) that it’s amazing it works at all! But it’s tough – haven’t broken it yet. And why replace something that’s not broken?!
